Multi-Agent Influence Diagrams for Representing and Solving Games

چکیده
The traditional representations of games using the extensive form or the strategic (normal) form obscure much of the structure that is present in real-world games. In this paper, we propose a new representation language for general multiplayer games — multi-agent influence diagrams (MAIDs). This representation extends graphical models for probability distributions to a multi-agent decision-making context. MAIDs explicitly encode structure involving the dependence relationships among variables. As a consequence, we can define a notion of strategic relevance of one decision variable to another: D0 is strategically relevant to D if, to optimize the decision rule atD, the decision maker needs to take into consideration the decision rule at D0. We provide a sound and complete graphical criterion for determining strategic relevance. We then show how strategic relevance can be used to detect structure in games, allowing a large game to be broken up into a set of interacting smaller games, which can be solved in sequence. We show that this decomposition can lead to substantial savings in the computational cost of finding Nash equilibria in these games.

Modeling a multi-agent environment combining influence diagrams
In this paper we show how influence diagrams (IDs) can be combined for modeling a multiagent environment. Influence diagrams are a compact representation of a joint probability distribution where actions and utilities are explicitly modeled. Combining different IDs which represent individual agents into a global coherent network representing the entire multi-agent system is a difficult problem....
متن کاملGraphical Multiagent Decision Model: Towards Adaptability
Multiagent decision making is a typical decision problem in the changing world. We propose a new framework, including multiply sectioned influence diagrams (MSID) and hyper relevance graph (HRG), to represent this large and complex decision problem involving multiple agents. An MSID is an agency graphical language for representing decision problems in a distributed fashion while an HRG expresse...

متن کاملLoad-Frequency Control: a GA based Bayesian Networks Multi-agent System
Bayesian Networks (BN) provides a robust probabilistic method of reasoning under uncertainty. They have been successfully applied in a variety of real-world tasks but they have received little attention in the area of load-frequency control (LFC). In practice, LFC systems use proportional-integral controllers. However since these controllers are designed using a linear model, the nonlinearities...
متن کاملRepresenting Coordination Relationships with Influence Diagrams
It is well know the necessity of managing relationships among agents in a multi-agent system to achieve coordinated behavior. One approach to manage such relationships consists of using an explicit representation of them, allowing each agent to choose its actions based on them. Previous work in the area have considered ideal situations, such as fully known environments, static relationships and...
